Germany’s Service Sector Sees Moderate Growth in March

According to preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), Germany’s service sector, excluding financial and insurance services, recorded a real and nominal increase of 0.5% and 0.6%, respectively, in calendar and seasonally adjusted terms, compared to February 2025.

Compared to the same period in the previous year, March 2024, the service sector’s calendar and seasonally adjusted revenues showed a real increase of 0.9% and a nominal increase of 2.7%.

The information and communication sector experienced the largest real growth, with a 1.7% increase, followed by the freelance, scientific and technical services sector, which saw a 0.7% rise. The provision of other economic services, such as the rental of movable assets and the mediation of labor and the real estate and construction sector, recorded increases of 0.5% and 0.3%, respectively. In contrast, the real revenues in the transportation and warehousing sector decreased by 0.4%, the office reported.
