According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), Germany’s hospitality industry saw a real and seasonally adjusted increase of 1.7 percent and a nominal increase of 1.8 percent in April 2025, compared to the previous month.
Compared to the same period in the previous year, April 2024, the industry’s turnover declined by 1.0 percent in real terms and rose by 1.7 percent in nominal terms.
Hotels and other accommodation providers reported a significant increase in turnover, with a real growth of 4.5 percent and a nominal growth of 4.4 percent in April 2025, compared to the previous month. In a year-on-year comparison, this sector saw a real increase of 3.9 percent and a nominal increase of 4.3 percent in April 2025, compared to the same period in the previous year.
The food and beverage sector, on the other hand, experienced a more modest growth, with a real increase of 1.5 percent and a nominal increase of 1.7 percent in April 2025, compared to the previous month. In a year-on-year comparison, this sector saw a real decline of 2.8 percent and a nominal increase of 1.2 percent in April 2025, compared to the same period in the previous year, according to Destatis.
