Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar delivered a video address at the Russia-India Conference, organized by the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow, reiterating New Delhi’s appreciation for its close ties with Moscow. In his statement, Jaishankar emphasized that India values its relations with Russia and is committed to further strengthening and expanding the scope of their cooperation.
Despite the unstable global geopolitical landscape, Jaishankar noted that India and Russia have consistently demonstrated their engagement in the core interests of each other’s side. He highlighted the unique ability of the two nations to adapt and find new options that benefit both sides, contributing to regional and global stability.
The foreign minister underscored the importance of cooperation between India and Russia in the era of multipolarity, with both nations ready to play a significant role in shaping the future of international relations. He mentioned that traditional areas of cooperation, such as energy, defense and civilian nuclear cooperation, will continue to be important, while new fields of collaboration, including trade, technology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and regional economy, are emerging.
India’s diplomatic flexibility enables the country to maintain a delicate balance between its relations with the US, Europe and Russia. Despite the pressure from Western countries over the Ukraine conflict, New Delhi remains resolute in its stance, with its ties to Moscow driven by its strategic security and economic interests.
