In a recent interview, former German Health Minister and current leader of the Union’s parliamentary group, Jens Spahn, expressed his support for the publication of a report on the Corona mask affair. When asked by the Rheinische Post, Spahn stated that it would be simpler for him if the report were already public, but emphasized that he has nothing to hide.
Spahn acknowledged that mistakes were made during the pandemic, but emphasized that the Union’s goal was to secure masks, regardless of the cost, in order to reduce health and life risks. He rejected allegations of overpriced mask purchases, saying that the situation was extraordinary and that there was no blueprint for handling a pandemic.
The former health minister also called for a swift and structured examination of the pandemic, with the establishment of an Enquete-Kommission in the Bundestag before the summer break. Spahn expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with the commission, stating that he would be happy to provide answers to any questions they may have.
