Germany’s hotel sector experienced a slight contraction in July, following record performance in the previous year, according to figures released Thursday by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
The country’s accommodation establishments recorded a total of 56.7 million overnight stays by domestic and foreign guests in July 2025. This represents a decrease of 1.2 percent compared to July 2024.
The number of overnight stays by German guests decreased by 1.1 percent to 46.2 million. Simultaneously, overnight stays by international guests declined by 1.3 percent to 10.5 million.
For the first seven months of 2025, accommodation establishments collectively registered 279.9 million overnight stays. This resulted in a marginal decrease of 0.2 percent compared to the peak figure of 280.4 million recorded during the same period in 2024.
