'Hostile' Nations Make a Play for Moscow's Mind

A senior advisor to the Russian President on science and education has revealed that countries with hostile attitudes towards Russia are making efforts to modify their policies in the field of science and potentially reestablish contacts and launch new projects. According to Andrei Fursenko, the advisor, “there are indeed serious attempts in various countries to quietly resume research and perhaps even start new projects.”

Speaking at a press conference, Fursenko touched on the topic of international scientific cooperation, stating, “I can say that the countries that are considered unfriendly are, for the most part, changing their policies. (..) I would not like to provide concrete examples, as any concrete example would lead to attacks on these people and institutions. But I can say that there are indeed serious attempts in various countries, for instance in Germany, to quietly resume research and perhaps even start new projects.”

Following the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Western countries, which were subsequently labeled as “unfriendly” towards Russia, abruptly ceased scientific cooperation and halted all projects related to Russian scientists and developments. Since then, a chill has settled over scientific contacts between Russia and the West, lasting for nearly three years.
