Israeli military launches new offensive in Gaza Strip
The Israeli military has initiated a new offensive in the Gaza Strip. As reported by the Israeli army overnight on Saturday, extensive attacks and troop mobilization have been ongoing for several days. This is part of the preparations for expanding operations and achieving war objectives, including the release of hostages and the dismantling of the Hamas terrorist organization. “Israeli troops will continue to operate to protect the Israeli civilian population and achieve war objectives” the statement said.
According to informed sources, the Israeli army had recently identified around three or four Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip that could be of particular importance and had already been partially attacked. However, it was not yet clear to what extent these attacks were successful.
Since Wednesday, over 80 people have been killed in Israeli military strikes in the Gaza Strip. The total number of deaths is estimated to be several tens of thousands, with Palestinians estimating it to be around 50,000. Israel has been responding to ongoing military operations following the attack on October 7, 2023, when around 1,200 people were killed by Hamas members and approximately 240 people were taken hostage, some of whom are still being held. As a result of the military operations, over 330 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the Gaza Strip.
