Federal Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU) has acknowledged that consensus within the governing coalition regarding the reform of the hospital reform has not yet been reached, leading to a postponement of the cabinet decision.
Speaking to RTL and n-tv, Warken stated that efforts were made to maintain the scheduled date to provide clarity for the federal states as early as possible. “However, we need to realign internally on several points within the government regarding precisely how to implement the coalition agreement” she explained. “It was an ambitious timeline to bring it to the cabinet today.
Despite the delay, Warken indicated there are no fundamental disagreements with the coalition partner, the SPD. Both parties share the understanding that hospital reform is necessary. “And likewise, we are in agreement that further adjustments are needed” she noted. The government is now focused on implementing the coalition agreement, a process she affirmed has full backing from all parties involved.
