Homeless Man Dies After Altona Attack

A 65-year-old man experiencing homelessness has died following an incident in the Altona-Nord district of Hamburg. Police announced the development on Thursday. The man had been hospitalized in a coma since a violent attack in the Altona-Altstadt area in June, reportedly perpetrated by three men and a woman.

Following an autopsy, the forensic medical examiners confirmed that the man’s death was a direct result of external trauma. At the time of the attack, the individual was pulling a cart and was not wearing upper body clothing.

The Serious Crime Division (LKA 41) has initiated an investigation for aggravated assault leading to death.

Authorities are renewing their appeal for witnesses. Individuals who may have observed suspicious activity between 6:00 PM on June 21st and 10:20 PM on June 22nd in the vicinity of Museumstraße or Platz der Republik are urged to contact the police. The incident occurred near the Stuhlmannbrunnen fountain.
