Historic Truce: Israel's Last Obstacle Falls, Palestinian Prisoners to be Freed!

Palestinian Hamas has reportedly resolved all outstanding issues with Israel regarding the ceasefire. According to a statement on Telegram, all obstacles that arose from Israel’s non-compliance with the ceasefire agreement have been removed as of the morning of January 17. The Hamas movement expressed gratitude for the efforts of the mediators in this regard.

Additionally, the movement announced that a list of Palestinian prisoners who are to be released by Israel in the first phase of the deal will be published shortly.

On Thursday, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Hamas had, at the last minute, reneged on some of the agreements made as part of the deal, thereby creating a crisis that would prevent an agreement from being reached.

The first reports of a successful deal on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip emerged on November 15, with the Hamas committing to release 33 Israeli hostages in the first phase in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. According to Israeli reports, 95 of the original 251 abducted individuals remain in Gaza, with 34 of them reportedly deceased.

Since the signing of the agreement, more than 101 people, including 27 children, have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks, reported a Gaza Civil Defense unit on Friday. A ceasefire may take effect as early as this Sunday or the beginning of next week, pending the outcome of negotiations.
