Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport anticipates no significant delays to ongoing motorway projects across the country.
A ministry spokesperson confirmed in Berlin on Wednesday that current projects and ongoing tenders will continue uninterrupted. “We are in close communication with Autobahn GmbH to ensure everything is handled according to need” the spokesperson stated, referring to the company responsible for Germany’s federal motorways.
The ministry expects no “noticeable delays” to the overall program. However, the spokesperson refrained from commenting on individual projects, citing the ongoing budgetary negotiations for 2025 and 2026.
Recent reports from MDR indicated potential work stoppages on the A14 and A143 motorways in Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg due to budget concerns. While the German Parliament’s Budget Committee recently approved short-term funding for bridge and road repair projects, this funding is not expected to extend to new construction.
