Health Minister's Fight for His Own Strength

After FDP chief Christian Lindner’s appeal to the Union to declare a black-yellow coalition after the federal election, Union faction vice Jens Spahn is calling on the Liberals to first take care of their own strength.

Spahn told the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday edition): “We are not running a coalition election campaign. Everyone is fighting for their own strength.” The Union’s goal is a government without Red-Green, “a majority for the Union is achievable”, the CDU politician said.

“If a bourgeois majority emerges, then black-yellow could be an alternative after the election.” First, the FDP must deal with “why they have been carrying this disastrous grand coalition for three years”, Spahn said.
