German politician Robert Habeck, the Federal Minister of Economics (Greens), has vowed to continue reducing electricity prices in the next legislative period. According to a quote by the “Bild”newspaper, Habeck stated, “I promise that electricity prices will decrease – I will set to work on this from the very first day.”He emphasized that electricity must be clean, secure and affordable for citizens, industry and the planet’s future.
Specifically, Habeck plans to finance network tariffs through the federal budget. He advocates for the effective abolition of the electricity tax. Moreover, he believes that citizens should be more involved in the profits of the energy transition.
