German Green Party leader and Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck has criticized US Vice President JD Vance for his appearance at the Munich Security Conference, calling for more European cooperation. “It’s not about style issues with Vance’s statements” Habeck told the Rheinische Post (Saturday edition). “It’s about the values of the West as a shared value foundation.”
Habeck emphasized that Europe must present a united and decisive front, stating that it cannot be pushed around. “Europe needs a joint action in security matters, in foreign policy, in supporting Ukraine, in technology policy and in trade policy” he said. “That Europe can do this has already been demonstrated against Russia. And the next German government must work in the service of European values” the Green Party leader warned.
