In response to US President Donald Trump’s decision to freeze aid to Ukraine, the leader of the German Greens, Franziska Brantner, is calling for the way to be cleared for the planned three billion euro aid package for Ukraine.
“Now, the finance minister of Chancellor Scholz must finally pass the bill to the Bundestag, so that the three billion euros, which have been planned for a long time, can be released as support for Ukraine” she told RTL and ntv. “There is no reason anymore why these draft proposals cannot come from the finance ministry to the Bundestag. There was a decision in the Bundestag about this. It is clear that we want this. There are majorities in the Bundestag. This must now be really sent to the Bundestag as the first step today” Brantner urged.
Looking ahead to the EU summit on Thursday, she added, “It is about securing a large financial package for Ukraine right now. And then of course, the defense capability of Europe itself should be put on the path through European credits for defense.
