The parliamentary group leader of the Green Party, Britta Haßelmann, has voiced strong criticism of the German federal government’s budgetary planning. Addressing her parliamentary group within the Bundestag on Tuesday, Haßelmann characterized the process as involving “delays and budgetary maneuvering” expressing a need for decisive action and future-oriented investment.
Haßelmann emphasized the urgent need for investment in dilapidated infrastructure and support for local authorities, who are facing a significant backlog of investment projects. She further stressed the importance of consistent investment in climate protection and the continued expansion of renewable energy sources.
The Green Party politician also directed criticism towards Minister for Economic Affairs, Katherina Reiche (CDU), alleging attempts to reinterpret the latest report on the energy transition monitoring process. Reiche, according to Haßelmann, appears to be attempting to justify investments in fossil gas; however, these efforts will prove unsuccessful. The focus, Haßelmann insisted, remains on the continued expansion of renewable energy.
