Green Youth Leader Slams Merz's Competence, Calls Him Unfit for Chancellor Role

Grüne-Jugend-Chef kritisiert Friedrich Merz nach Bundeskanzlerwahl

Jakob Blasel, the head of the Green Youth, has expressed strong criticism of Friedrich Merz (CDU) after the federal chancellor election. “I consider this man to be completely unsuitable to hold the most important office in this country” he writes in a guest article for the news portal Watson.

He cites not only Merz’s “disgusting attitude towards women and homosexuality” as reasons for his criticism. Blasel also accuses the CDU politician of greed. After leaving the Bundestag, Merz worked at various banks and companies, including asset manager BlackRock, where he collected “high positions in corporations like I myself earn loyalty points at the supermarket.” Blasel asked, “How is this man, who serves the rich, supposed to become the servant of the people?”

Moreover, the Green Youth boss once again criticized Merz’s migration agreement in January: “This year, he became the first buyer of majorities with fascists in the Bundestag since 1945. That’s a feat.”

He also criticized the newly appointed CDU ministers: So Economic Minister Katherina Reiche not only has “a problem with conflicts of interest, but also with queer people.” The appointment of Karsten Wildberger as Digital Minister sounds like a “bad joke” to him.

Regarding Merz’s failed election as federal chancellor, he writes: “Not even his own people wanted to elect him immediately. No one has ever been hit in the face so hard at a chancellor election.”

He does not have any hope that the time of Friedrich Merz as federal chancellor will be able to “give the tone in terms of social justice, the fight against fascism and the preservation of our livelihood.” His conclusion is: “In view of his life, all I can say is: the wrong man at the wrong time.
