In a strongly worded statement, the leadership of the Green Youth has called on the Green Party’s chancellor candidate, Robert Habeck and the mother party to rule out a coalition with Friedrich Merz following the migration vote in the German Bundestag. “As long as Merz is at the helm of the Union, the Greens cannot enter a coalition with the CDU and CSU” said Jakob Blasel, co-leader of the Green Youth, in an interview with the “Spiegel”. “Conservatives who are enablers for Nazis cannot be coalition partners” Blasel added.
Blasel criticized Merz for making a mockery of democracy in his election campaign. The next decisive moment is set to take place on Friday, he said, when every and each Union member of parliament will have the chance to prevent cooperation with fascists from becoming the standard in Germany.
