Green Party's Left-Wing Minister Paus to Lead Work and Social Issues Working Group

Lisa Paus, a member of the Green Party, has been chosen to lead the working group on labor and social issues within the party’s parliamentary faction. This decision was made by both wings of the party, according to the Tagesspiegel. Paus herself confirmed her ambition to become the faction’s spokesperson one day before the election. In an interview with the Tagesspiegel, she said, “Black-red leaves the social state and climate protection to the left, it is up to us Greens to make sure that the socio-ecological transformation succeeds and that the future of the social security system does not fall victim to it.” Paus is considered a member of the party’s left-wing. There have been rumors that she may run for the Berlin city parliament in the coming year, but she has not yet commented on this. In an interview with the Tagesspiegel, she said, “In light of global challenges, we need more solidarity instead of muscle-flexing and unbridled capitalism, especially in light of growing authoritarianism and the climate crisis. There is still a lot of work to be done to improve career opportunities for women. This is not only socially unjust, but also leaves significant economic potential untapped.
