A 24th-round match in the 2. German Football Bundesliga saw Fortuna Düsseldorf lose at home to SpVgg Greuther Fürth with a score of 1-2.
Fortuna took the lead with their first attempt, as Johannesson, from a halfway position, made a beautiful run and placed the ball in the right corner in the eighth minute.
The Franken, however, responded perfectly in the ninth minute, as after a corner, Klaus played a header to Hrgota, who scored with the inside of his foot.
From then on, both teams were cautious and showed little real goal-scoring potential until the halftime whistle.
In the second half, van Brederode created the first real chance in the 62nd minute, but Quarshie blocked his shot just in time.
Instead, Fürth turned the game around in the 75th minute under peculiar circumstances. Kastenmeier, with his back to the goal, was tackled by Klaus in the penalty area and initially, the goalkeeper held the penalty, but was too early to be caught offside and Green scored in the second attempt for his team.
The Thioune-Elf then pushed everything forward and almost had to accept the deciding goal in the 85th minute, but Hrgota’s central shot was no problem for the goalkeeper, Kastenmeier. Even so, it was not enough for the home team.
As a result, Düsseldorf slipped to sixth place in the table, while Fürth remained in eleventh place.
In the parallel match of the 2. Bundesliga, Schalke won against Münster with a score of 1-0.
