Global Carnage: Continental to Cut 3,000 Jobs by 2026

As the global automotive industry continues to face challenges, Continental, a leading auto parts supplier, has announced that it will cut an additional 3,000 jobs worldwide by the end of 2026. Approximately half of these job losses will occur in Germany, primarily affecting locations in the Rhine-Main region and Bavaria. The Nuremberg site, in particular, is set to be completely shut down.

The company cited a “challenging market environment” in the automotive sector as the reason for the job cuts, aiming to increase efficiency by streamlining its operations.

It is worth noting that Continental had already announced in the previous year that it would cut 7,150 jobs in its automotive division, comprising 5,400 in administration and 1,750 in research and development. The majority of these cuts have reportedly been implemented, with the newly announced additional 3,000 job losses bringing the total to over 10,000.
