Borussia Mönchengladbach’s striker Tim Kleindienst will be out of action for several months due to a knee operation. The club announced on Saturday evening that Kleindienst had to undergo surgery for a knee injury involving a meniscus, sustained during an away game in Munich.
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sports director, Roland Virkus, expressed shock over the injury: “Tim’s injury is a bitter message – for him personally and for us. We will support him in his regeneration after the operation and help him return to the pitch as strong as we experienced him in his first season with us.”
Borussia’s head coach, Gerardo Seoane, added: “We all know how important Tim is to our game. Now it’s time to support him so that everything heals well and he can return as soon as possible.”
The news is also bitter for Germany national team coach Julian Nagelsmann. Kleindienst had recently been performing well in the national team, scoring, for example, during the 3:3 comeback against Italy in the Nations League. The German team will now have to compete in the final four of the Nations League without the attacker. On June 4, Nagelsmann’s team will face Portugal in the semifinals.
