Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens has completed a high-profile transfer to Chelsea Football Club, the London-based team confirmed on Saturday.
The 20-year-old winger, previously linked with Bayern Munich, has penned a long-term contract with the Blues, securing his services until 2032.
Gittens arrived at Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy five years ago, having previously been part of Manchester City’s academy setup. He subsequently made 107 appearances for Dortmund’s senior squad. His Bundesliga debut occurred in May 2022, under the guidance of then-manager Marco Rose, in a 6-1 victory against Wolfsburg. Over the following three seasons, he featured in 74 Bundesliga matches, contributing twelve goals and eleven assists.
The move to Chelsea follows a previously failed transfer attempt prior to the Club World Cup. Gittens returns to his hometown of London where he will face considerable competition for places in manager Enzo Maresca’s squad, vying for opportunities across the attacking wing positions.
