German Development Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan Calls for a German Response to Israeli Attacks in the Gaza Strip
German Development Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), has urged the government to take a stance on the Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. In an interview with RTL and ntv, Alabali-Radovan emphasized the need for consequences when humanitarian aid is blocked and international law is disregarded. She stated, “If humanitarian help is blocked and international law is not respected, then there must be consequences.” The minister expressed her concerns over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, saying, “This cannot continue in this way.”
Alabali-Radovan commended Chancellor Merz for his clear words to the Israeli government, highlighting the historical responsibility and friendship between Germany and Israel as reasons for the importance of these statements. The minister noted that the German government is united in its demand for humanitarian aid to be allowed for the people of Gaza and that this should also be demanded from the Israeli government.
Furthermore, Alabali-Radovan called on the Hamas terrorist organization to release the hostages and encouraged talks on a ceasefire. The minister emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach, including a ceasefire, to end the violence in the region.
