German Education Union President Stefan Düll Advocates for Online Class Practice Days
In an interview with Ippen-Media, Düll emphasized the need for regular online class practice sessions, suggesting that designated “distance days” could be used for this purpose. He proposed that these sessions serve as a form of “home office tests” for both students and teachers, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the digital environment. The president of the German Education Union believes that a single online lesson, whether in a video conference or with individual self-coaching, requires a different preparation approach compared to traditional in-class teaching.
Düll attributed his suggestion to the gap between students’ digital skills, acquired through social media and gaming and their ability to effectively utilize digital tools in an educational setting. According to him, students, despite being proficient in online activities, are not naturally superior to adults in terms of digital literacy.
