German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has rejected the mediation offer from Russian President Vladimir Putin in the conflict between Israel and Iran.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada, Merz stated that he does not see a mediating role for the Russian state president in this conflict. He also added that it would be good for Russia to end its war in Ukraine.
The Chancellor announced that the European G7 nations will propose a draft for the closing statement, reiterating that Iran must not, under any circumstances, acquire materials capable of being used in nuclear weapons. The document will also highlight Israel’s right to self-defence and discuss possibilities for a diplomatic solution.
