German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck has strongly rejected US Vice President JD Vance’s involvement in domestic and European politics.
In an interview with RTL and ntv, the Green Party politician said, “What Vance did yesterday is none of his business. So clear does one have to say it. It’s none of your business. Take care of your own affairs, there are enough tasks in the USA.”
Habeck also defended the democratic processes in Germany and Europe, stating, “We have our own independence of the courts. We decide for ourselves who we elect. We decide for ourselves which coalitions are formed and we decide for ourselves which values we defend. And those are different values than the ones Vance presented.”
He characterized Vance’s actions as a distortion of history, “This had already had Orwellian features, where the truth is turned on its head. So, we should certainly not take that as an example” Habeck said on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC).
