The South Schleswig Voters’ Association has urged German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) to phone US President Donald Trump to intervene in his interests in Greenland, which belongs to Denmark. “I wish Mr. Scholz would pick up the phone and call Trump in his last weeks” Stefan Seidler (SSW), a German parliamentarian of the Danish minority, told Bild (Thursday edition).
Scholz should tell Trump, “Listen, you don’t have to do the same as Putin in Ukraine. We no longer have hegemony and imperialism, that’s not the way to go. We’re not in a supermarket where you can buy what you like with Elon Musk” Seidler said.
In Denmark, there is “partly panicked” reaction. “Trump has threatened a trade embargo and tariffs, and even military action was not ruled out” the parliamentarian said. “This is a great concern for the Danes and for us as a Danish minority.”
Seidler himself warned Trump of a change of course. “I thought we were out of that epoch in the Western world already” the SSW politician said. “I don’t know which time Mr. Trump lives in – or if he watches peculiar movies.
