According to the German government’s response to a question from the Union faction in the Bundestag on politically motivated crime, the numbers of anti-Semitic and Islamophobic criminal offenses have increased by 30% compared to the previous year.
The data shows that the number of anti-Semitic crimes has risen from approximately 3,244 cases in the previous year to around 4,569 in the past year, with the count ending on November 30. The figures do not cover the entire year, but the trend is clear.
Similarly, the number of Islamophobic incidents, which include cases where the police have found evidence of hostility towards Muslims or Islam in general, has also increased by around 30% (2023: 934, 2024: 1,364).
