Germany's Consumer Price Growth Slows to 2.3%!

The annual increase in consumer prices in Germany has slowed down again in January 2025.

The inflation rate is expected to be 2.3 percent, the Federal Statistical Office announced on Friday. In December 2024, the price increase was 2.6 percent and in November, it was 2.2 percent. Compared to the previous month, consumer prices are expected to have decreased by 0.2 percent in the first month of the year.

The more informative inflation rate without food and energy, often referred to as the core inflation, has fallen to 2.9 percent in January 2025, from 3.3 percent in December 2024. It remains significantly higher than the overall index.

Energy prices were lower again in December, down by 1.6 percent compared to the previous year. The price increase for food was 0.8 percent in the year-on-year comparison. Prices for services rose by 4.0 percent.
