CDU Security Policy Expert Roderich Kiesewetter Considers German Military Deployment in Ukraine after War as Inevitable
As the economically strongest country in Europe, Germany must be prepared to make a significant contribution to peacekeeping and the European security architecture, said CDU security policy expert Roderich Kiesewetter to the “New Osnabrück Times” (Friday edition). Germany is therefore obligated to engage “at a given time with robustly equipped troops” in Ukraine, excluding this would be reckless.
German involvement must take place within the framework of the EU and NATO, Kiesewetter added. “Efficient and realistic in the face of our limited material and personnel resources in Europe is a peacekeeping force only when peacekeeping is integrated into the European and transatlantic security architecture and thus into NATO, as the nuclear shield for Ukraine then also applies.
