The “Deutschlandticket” a nationwide public transportation pass, has received funding confirmation for the next five years, according to Federal Minister for Transport Patrick Schnieder. Schnieder announced Thursday that an agreement has been reached with the Federal Ministry of Finance to allocate €1.5 billion annually until 2030. The Minister acknowledged the difficulty of securing this funding within the current budgetary constraints, expressing gratitude to the Federal Minister of Finance.
Regional authorities have concurrently agreed to a price increase to €63, effective in 2026. The upcoming conference of Transport Ministers, scheduled for late October, will establish a mechanism for future price adjustments beginning in 2027, based on a defined cost index.
Recognizing that public transport isn’t universally accessible, Schnieder also highlighted recent measures such as an increase in commuter allowances to support those in regions where public transit isn’t a viable daily option.
