The Federal Security Council received an update via telephone on Saturday from Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) regarding his recent trip to Israel and the West Bank.
According to a statement released by government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius, the German government has observed initial, albeit modest, advancements in the delivery of humanitarian aid to the population in the Gaza Strip. However, Kornelius emphasized that these improvements are “by far not sufficient” to alleviate the current crisis.
The statement reiterated Israel’s responsibility to guarantee comprehensive aid provisions, supported by the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations. Simultaneously, the German government expressed concern over reports indicating that “significant quantities of aid supplies” are being withheld by Hamas and criminal organizations.
