Germany Deports 43 to Iraq

A coordinated effort involving Thuringia and seven other German federal states resulted in the deportation of 43 individuals subject to deportation orders to Iraq on Tuesday. The Thuringian Ministry for Justice, Migration and Consumer Protection confirmed that 14 of the deportees were residents of Thuringia.

The operation, which also included the involvement of the Federal Police, reportedly proceeded without incident, according to Thuringia’s Minister for Migration, Beate Meißner (CDU). Meißner emphasized the importance of adhering to legal obligations, stating, “Those without the right of residency must leave our country.

The ministry signaled a continued commitment to conducting deportations, particularly focusing on individuals with criminal records and those deemed potential security risks who lack a viable basis for remaining in Germany. The action is presented as part of a shift in the state’s migration policy approach.

Specific details regarding the deportation flight, including passenger manifests and precise departure times, were not immediately released. Reports indicate the flight originated from Leipzig/Halle Airport with a destination of Baghdad.
