The German government stated it is not concerned about the upcoming vote of confidence in the French government scheduled for tonight in Paris.
Government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius, responding to questions from the dts news agency on Monday in Berlin, indicated that the development in France had been anticipated for some time. He noted that the German Chancellor maintains a close relationship with the French President and that the German government has been observing France’s domestic political situation.
The German government expressed hope that France will continue to be a close European partner willing to engage in collaborative agreements.
When asked whether Germany has advice to offer its neighbor regarding its debt challenges, Kornelius clarified that the German government does not offer tips to European neighbors. He acknowledged that economic developments are part of bilateral discussions, but emphasized that each nation will draw its own conclusions. Germany also faces its own budgetary responsibilities and the focus should remain on addressing the country’s own debt situation.
