German Greens’ Leader Criticizes Deutsche Bahn’s Decision to Scrap Discounted Family Booking

The chair of the German Greens’ parliamentary faction, Katharina Dröge, has sharply criticized Deutsche Bahn’s announcement to discontinue the reduced family booking system with the upcoming timetable change.

According to Dröge, the decision to increase reservation fees, especially for families with children, is a serious mistake. “In times of high prices, the summer vacation is becoming a luxury for families with children. The Bahn’s decision to raise reservation fees is a heavy blow” she said to the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland.

Dröge emphasized that making the switch to rail travel should be made easier and more affordable, not more complicated and expensive. This is also a clear mandate for Friedrich Merz, she added.

The German Greens’ leader further emphasized that the special fund’s money should be used to modernize the Bahn, not for budget consolidation and electoral gifts.
