Germany’s Political Parties to Receive Increased State Funding in 2025

According to a report by the German newspaper Bild, citing a briefing by Bundestag President Julia Klöckner, the government is set to increase state funding for political parties in Germany by six million euros, bringing the total to 225.4 million euros, as of 2025. The decision is attributed to a 2.8 percent increase in party-related expenditures in 2024.

Furthermore, the newspaper reports that the reimbursement for election campaign costs will also be increased. For the first four million votes, parties will receive 1.21 euros per vote, up from the previous 1.18 euros. For each additional vote, the reimbursement will be 99 cents, up from 97 cents.

All parties that receive at least 0.5 percent of the second vote in a federal or European election, or at least one percent of the vote in a state election, will benefit from the state funding.
