Germany is preparing a focused initiative to reduce bureaucratic processes, with Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger announcing concrete measures are slated for implementation this autumn
Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, Wildberger indicated that the upcoming cabinet retreat at the end of September will prioritize modernization of the state and the streamlining of administrative procedures An ensuing cabinet meeting in October is specifically dedicated to initiating the first stage of these reduction measures The ministry confirmed the session will be exclusively focused on reducing bureaucratic hurdles
Regarding the planned digital wallet, Wildberger expressed optimism about its rollout schedule The ambition is to launch the platform by the end of 2026, potentially beginning with the digital storage of driver’s licenses Further functionalities, particularly in the realm of digital payments, are planned for phased integration starting in 2027
