Germany’s annual rate of consumer price inflation continued its upward trend in September 2025, according to data released Tuesday by the Federal Statistical Office.
The inflation rate is now projected to reach 2.4 percent, a rise from 2.2 percent recorded in the previous month. Consumer prices are estimated to have increased by 0.2 percent compared to August.
A key measure of inflation, excluding food and energy – often referred to as core inflation – is anticipated to have risen to 2.8 percent. This figure remains notably higher than the overall inflation index.
While energy prices remained lower than they were in September of the previous year, the decrease moderated to -0.7 percent. Food prices, on a year-over-year basis, increased by 2.1 percent. Prices for services demonstrated a rise of 3.4 percent.
