Désirée Nosbusch drew inspiration for her directorial debut from renowned colleagues. “I love Scorsese” she told the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday edition). “I’ve always been a Lynch fan. Spielberg’s ‘E.T.’ has left a mark on me and Tornatore’s ‘Cinema Paradiso’.”
The 60-year-old has just released her film “Poison – A Love Story” in cinemas, with Trine Dyrholm and Tim Roth in the lead roles.
Nosbusch, who is primarily known for her work as a moderator and actress, studied direction in Los Angeles. Her teachers included famous directors: “I had two great instructors. One was Rob Reiner and one was Mel Brooks. And from Mel Brooks, I like to quote a sentence: If a story sticks to you like a honey pot and you can no longer shake it off, then you must tell that story.”
The film “Poison” is now in cinemas and on Thursday, Nosbusch will also moderate the opening gala of the Berlinale.
