German FDP Leader Makes Shock Bid to Unite with CDU

After the CDU’s leader Christian Lindner’s call on the Union to declare a black-yellow alliance after the February federal election, FDP’s general secretary Marco Buschmann is also calling on CDU and CSU to a common policy change.

Buschmann told the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday edition): “Each party runs on its own program. But a genuine policy change also needs a power constellation that actually wants to implement this policy change.”

Buschmann added: “The prospect of a black-red or black-green coalition does not meet this requirement. It drives people to protest. The prospect of a black-yellow coalition, on the other hand, would be a genuine perspective for a new economic and migration policy from a serious center out.
