German Farmers' Association Urges New Minister to Simplify Regulations

The German Farmers’ Association (DBV) has called on the designated Agriculture Minister Alois Rainer (CSU) to reduce regulations for farmers. “At the top of the agenda for the designated Federal Minister of Agriculture must be the restoration of the competitiveness of our domestic agriculture and a real reduction in bureaucracy” said DBV President Joachim Rukwied to “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”. The challenges for agriculture, food production and rural areas are enormous, Rukwied explained and it requires a clear agricultural policy compass and decisions in favor of farmer families. The election of Rainer as the future minister is a positive signal. Rainer possesses “high professional expertise and many years of political experience” said the farmers’ president, who in the past also worked as a CDU politician.
