The co-leader of Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Tino Chrupalla, has asserted that actions occurring in the Gaza Strip constitute “crimes”. Speaking in an interview with ZDF public television, Chrupalla referenced the humanitarian situation, specifically the provision of supplies to civilians, the suffering of children and reported fatalities, stating that these circumstances warrant the label of criminal acts.
He further indicated that accountability for these actions is necessary. The AfD leader also voiced support for halting certain arms deliveries to Israel, reiterating a longstanding party position opposing weapon transfers to conflict zones, a stance outlined in their election platform.
Despite these critical comments, Chrupalla affirmed that Israel remains “a partner and a friendly country” for the AfD. He emphasized that constructive criticism is necessary even within established alliances, particularly when disagreement occurs on policy matters.
