Gas Prices Stalled

Fuel prices in Germany have remained largely unchanged this week, according to data released Wednesday by the ADAC automotive club. The average price for Super E10 gasoline dropped slightly by 0.2 cents per liter, settling at €1.665. Diesel prices followed suit, decreasing by 0.1 cents per liter, now averaging €1.588.

This stability is attributed to the consistent price of crude oil, hovering around $68 per barrel and a relatively stable Euro-to-US dollar exchange rate. Consequently, the price difference between Super E10 and diesel has narrowed to 7.7 cents per liter.

Notably, this development occurs as the heating season begins – a period typically associated with increased demand for heating oil, which shares a similar composition to diesel. Ordinarily, this higher demand would exert upward pressure on diesel prices, reducing the gap with gasoline. The current unchanged dynamic offers a somewhat atypical market situation.
