Gas Prices Fall Diesel Remains High

Fuel prices across Germany have recently decreased, offering a slight relief for drivers.

According to a recent analysis by the ADAC, the average price for a liter of Super E10 gasoline reached €1.669 on Tuesday, a drop of 1.8 cents compared to the previous week. Diesel prices also saw a reduction, falling by 1.1 cents to €1.617 per liter.

The ADAC noted the decrease in the diesel price was less substantial than anticipated, particularly considering the lower mineral oil tax currently applied to diesel fuel.

The difference in price between Super E10 and diesel currently stands at a relatively low 5.2 cents per liter – an unusual margin for the summer months. Both fuel types have benefited from a slight decrease in the price of crude oil, with a barrel of Brent crude recently trading at approximately $69 US, down from $70 the week prior.
