Fuel Prices Rise Again Both Gasoline and Diesel Affected

Fuel prices across Germany have experienced a slight upward trend in the past week, reversing a recent period of decline. According to an analysis released Wednesday by the German Automobile Club (ADAC), the average price for a liter of Super E10 gasoline has risen by 0.8 cents, now standing at 1.658 euros. Diesel fuel has seen an even more pronounced increase, climbing by 1.3 cents to reach an average of 1.572 euros per liter.

The ADAC attributes this price increase primarily to a moderate rise in global oil prices, with Brent crude currently trading around 67 US dollars per barrel. The exchange rate between the Euro and the US dollar remains relatively stable, mirroring trends observed in recent weeks.

Notably, the price gap between Super E10 and diesel fuel has narrowed. The difference, which stood at 9.1 cents last week, has decreased to 8.6 cents per liter, further distancing the prices from the existing tax differential of over 20 cents per liter.

The ADAC indicates that this situation has persisted since mid-June, coinciding with escalated geopolitical tensions – specifically, military confrontations involving Israel, the United States and Iran – and the associated concerns regarding potential disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
