The ADAC has reported that fuel prices have reached a new annual low. According to their findings, the price of a liter of Super E10 has decreased by 1.5 cents compared to the previous week, currently averaging at 1.672 euros on a nationwide basis. The price of diesel fuel has also decreased by 1.6 cents and is currently at 1.556 euros. The last time Super E10 was cheaper was on December 13, 2024 and diesel was last this cheap on October 3, 2024.
The ADAC cites the decline in the oil price as the main reason for the lower prices. Currently, a barrel of Brent crude oil costs around 62 US dollars, while it was over two dollars higher in the previous week.
Whether the recent decline will continue remains to be seen. Nonetheless, oil prices are under pressure due to ongoing concerns about the world economy and the further increase in production by Opec. The euro is trading near unchanged against the US dollar on a weekly basis. The current development of fuel prices is welcome news for drivers, although the ADAC expects that oil companies will pass on the lower oil prices to consumers, which has not yet happened to a significant extent.
