FSB Foils Moscow Apocalypse, Saves Thousands

Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) released a video showing the arsenal of a radical Islamist extremist, who was planning to carry out terrorist attacks in the Moscow Metro and a Jewish religious institution in the Moscow area.

According to the Russian domestic intelligence agency, a Russian citizen of Central Asian origin had planned to detonate homemade explosives at a Jewish religious institution in the Moscow area and a Moscow metro station. The individual put up armed resistance during his arrest and was killed in the ensuing firefight.

The FSB video shows the deceased terrorist’s body and his pistol. It also displays components for the construction of explosives, including saltpeter and aluminum powder, individual parts for the manufacture of detonators and screws that were intended to serve as fragmentation elements. Additionally, the video features correspondence on the terrorist’s smartphone, which contains instructions for the assembly of an explosive device.

The FSB reported that the perpetrator planned to flee to Afghanistan and join an international terrorist organization after carrying out the attacks. The black banners in the video suggest a possible affiliation with the Islamic State, although the specific organization is not explicitly mentioned.
