Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered a heavy defeat at home against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday five of the Bundesliga, losing 4-6 in a high-scoring encounter.
Frankfurt took an early lead, with a goal from Koch in the 11th minute following a corner from Chaibi. The visitors quickly extended their advantage as Knauff found the net in the 15th minute after a cross from Doan.
Gladbach struggled to gain a foothold in the match, falling further behind as Uzun’s clever assist allowed Burkardt to score in the 35th minute. Chaibi added to Gladbach’s woes in the 39th minute, capitalizing on a simple pass from Doan to slot the ball into the bottom corner. The first half concluded with Uzun adding another goal in the first minute of added time, finishing powerfully after a flick-on from Chaibi.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Brown setting up Koch for Frankfurt’s fifth goal in the 46th minute. While Gladbach managed to reduce the deficit through Castrop in the 72nd minute, converting a cross from Scally and then through Tabakovic, who headed in following a cross from Netz in the 78th minute, the comeback proved insufficient. Engelhardt further narrowed the gap in the 83rd minute, before Ranos scored a late header from a Scally delivery in the ninth minute of added time.
The result leaves Gladbach at the bottom of the Bundesliga table without a victory, while Frankfurt climbs to fourth place.
