A wave of scrutiny has engulfed the Frankfurt police force following extensive raids on the First Police Precinct on Friday. The Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office and the State Criminal Investigation Office (LKA) executed the searches involving 17 officers, sparking concerns over potential abuse of power and a systemic failure to uphold due process.
The officers, ranging in age from 24 to 56, are facing accusations of assault in office, obstructing justice and the persecution of the innocent. The allegations center on incidents occurring between February and the end of April this year, where six men reportedly suffered unwarranted physical harm during or after their arrests. Critically, investigators have unearthed evidence suggesting that five of these victims subsequently had criminal investigations opened against them – a deeply troubling maneuver purportedly intended to retrospectively justify the officers’ actions.
The scale of the operation underscores the seriousness of the accusations, with approximately 150 LKA officers involved in securing multiple mobile phones and data storage devices, which are now undergoing forensic analysis.
